Sixteen months after commencing onsite at the Milton of Leys site in Inverness, Capstone Construction has handed over Pittyvaich, a new multi-million-pound care home, to Parklands Care Homes, marking the first step in an ambitious vision to create a new care community for the city.
Pittyvaich Care Home is the 13th addition to the Parklands Care Homes group and its largest purpose-built facility to date – it is also the first new care home to open in Inverness in five years. Spearheaded by Capstone, the construction phase supported over 60 jobs at its peak and involved significant quantities of materials, including 10,838 sheets of plasterboard, 1,796 concrete slabs, 29,250 lock-blocks, 16,792 masonry blocks, and 116 PVC windows!
Opened to residents on June 16th, the home offers access to a café, salon, lounges, activity room, quiet spaces, and landscaped gardens, with many of the spacious rooms boasting views over the Moray Firth. Located close to a school, nursery, and several churches, Pittyvaich is intended to become an integral part of the local community.
Rhona Donnelly, Managing Director of Capstone Construction, said: "Having previously delivered extensions to their care homes in Muir of Ord and Tain, we were delighted to lead the construction of this new flagship care home for Parklands Care Homes. It has been a pleasure to work in partnership with Parklands to deliver Pittyvaich, and we are proud to have played a key role in bringing such an important facility to the city of Inverness and the local community."
Rhona continued: "Capstone’s largest project to date, this full turnkey build showcases the strength of our team and our ability to deliver complex developments in Inverness and across the Highlands to the highest standard. I would also like to thank our subcontractors and supply chain partners, whose professionalism and dedication were vital to the successful delivery of this project."
Pittyvaich Care Home is the first stage in Parklands’ plan to develop an integrated care community in Inverness – the first of its kind in the Highlands. Future phases will include a later living village, designed to support independent living for older people, and key worker apartments, helping to ease pressure on local housing and support recruitment.
We operate all over Scotland and in a range of trades.
