which involved a specially branded excavator travelling to sites across Scotland to raise funds for local charities. The '50 Years of Morris Leslie Charity Machine' was recently hard at work in Inverness at two high-profile projects — firstly with ourselves at Milton of Leys for the construction of Pittyvaich (Parkland’s largest purpose-built care home, which features 58 en-suite bedrooms), and then over to the Inverness Castle Experience for UBCIVILS Ltd, who are carrying out all the groundworks during the major redevelopment for the Highland
Council.
Together, these Highland based companies along with Morris Leslie Plant Hire contributed to a combined total of £1,600 raised for Highland Cross — a respected local charity that supports individuals across the region facing disability, ill health, or social disadvantage. Highland Cross is best known for its annual 50-mile duathlon across the Highlands, which this year saw 751 participants and has raised more than £6.3 million since its inception in 1983.
Craig Maclellan, Procurement Manager at Capstone Construction, said: “When Alasdair Bowen from Morris Leslie Plant Hire Inverness reached out for suggestions on a local charity to support, Highland Cross was an obvious choice. It’s a fantastic cause that Capstone has supported over the years, and we were pleased that Ian from UB Civils was equally enthusiastic to get involved.”
Representatives from Capstone, Morris Leslie, UBCIVILS, and Highland Cross recently gathered at Morris Leslie Plant Hire Inverness depot to recognise the impact of the initiative and celebrate a shared commitment to community-focused construction.
